making more of life together

May 2018

Thursday 31 May 2018 held at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Manchester Hotel,  Dickens/Thackeray Main Meeting Room, “Free Trade Hall” Peter Street, Manchester M2 5GP  7 pm – 10 pm Chester Phab’s Volunteer Celebration Event – Annual trip to visit our Patron, Cherylee Houston, actress Izzy Armstrong from Coronation Street.

Due to Cherylee’s hectic filming schedule confirmation of this event will be cascaded 2 weeks before the planned date and is therefore subject to change, however we will keep you up to date of any changes as appropriate.

The coach departs from and to The Cheshire County Sports Club, Plas Newton Lane, Chester, CH2 1PR at 3 pm and then onto another pick up pointin Handbridge, we will return after 11 pm.

There will be complimentary tea, coffee and cakes served in the meeting room during the evening.

Joining us for this memorable occasion will be members of Sale Phab Disco

Members of Chester Adult Phab and another Phab Club will be given the opportunity to thank Cherylee for her involvement with Phab.  Cherylee Houston is very friendly and members of both clubs are delighted to have the opportunity to meet and chat to her.

During the evening members will have the opportunity of dining in an award winning restaurant;  The Steak and Lobster Bar or The Opus One Restaurant before meeting our Patron  Cherylee Houston.  Please note, members pay for their own meals and beverages before and after the event.

Manchester’s Free Trade Hall is home to a wholly excellent hotel, The Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel, Manchester built in 1856 which has been the centre of life in Manchester for 160 years.  In 2004 this masterpiece became a magnificent luxury 263 bedroom hotel award winning restaurant and tranquil spa.  Still at the heart of Manchester and in the hearts of Mancunians, it retains its original façade, heritage and famous artefacts.

The grandeur of the building is undeniably evocative, with heraldic crests looming over the lobby, but equally enjoyable is the decision to play off the hall’s musical history.

Suites are named after rock luminaries.

Free Trade Hall lived some of its most storied years so far as a concert hall and rock venue, welcoming a diverse range of famous (and sometimes infamous) stars, including David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, The Sex Pistols and Abba.

The Radisson Blu Edwardian Manchester Hotel has donated an afternoon tea for two people in the Colonnade area in in The Opus One Restaurant as a thank you gift.  We thank them for their support.

Knowsley Safari Park was opened to the public in July 1971.   It was the first safari park to be built close to a large city. The park proved immensely popular, so in 1973 an extension, including a further 1½ miles (2.4km) of road, was built and opened. This allowed more animals to be added to the collection on display along the now 5-mile- (8 km) long route, including herds of camels, buffalo and white rhino as well as a group of tigers.  The tigers and lions are now displayed in enclosures within the game reserves, and the elephants have their own paddock in the walk around section at the end of the safari drive. They also have a car friendly route around the outside of the monkey jungle for visitors who do not wish to have a close encounter with our baboons. Knowsley Safari Park has become one of Merseyside’s premier leisure attractions, winning several awards for tourism and its animal husbandry.

Knowsley Safari Park like their guests to connect with nature and discover new amazing facts about their animals. Their Learning & Discovery team can be spotted out & about in walk around area pointing out amazing things that you might not always notice and answering any questions you might have. They also run a series of talks throughout the day giving you fantastic insight into the lives of our walk around residents.
